Livestock Guardian Dogs
We live in the mountains right at the edge of the U.S. Forest. We experience all kinds of other wildlife besides the ones we own! Knowing that these two are looking after my herd in the dark hours or just when I can't be home lets my heart rest easy. These two are brother and sister. Their mother was Akbash and father was Anatolian Shepherd.

Ducks and Chicks and Geese. . .
We enjoy a small flock of chickens, ducks and geese. I love the taste of fresh eggs from free ranged chickens and I love how they peck and scratch and keep the bugs under control. We will sit for hours sometimes just to watch their comical behavior making our memories of the old Warner Bros. cartoons even more hilarious.
We have Lavender Muscovys. I breed for lavender and as long as the bear keeps his paws to himself everything is fine. I love these ducks. They are not a mallard breed so they do not need large bodies of water. They also do not quack. They make soft hissing noise or a little twurbling sound and that's it. They are supposed to be a delicious meat bird but ours are pets so I'll just have to read about it!
We also keep Khaki Cambell ducks. They are great egg layers but also wonderful fly control.
Our front yard is dominated by 5 Pilgrim Geese. These are a homestead breed on the conservation watch list. They are sex linked which means you can determine male or female by color. Males are white and females are gray. Except when the females are sitting on eggs they are a very docile breed.
