Shearing
**ATTENTION ATTENTION!!**
THIS IS THE LAST YEAR I WILL BE SHEARING IN CALIFORNIA!!
TAKE NOTE AND MAKE APPROPRIATE ARRANGEMENTS FOR NEXT YEAR
Alpacas: We use a pivoting shearing table. This helps save our backs as well as being a method that is less stressful for the animal. We will treat your alpaca with respect and take every caution to be safe. We are only shearing for small ranches in El Dorado, Placer, and Nevada county. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.
If you have more than 8 alpacas I will refer you to another shearer or plan multiple days. *see below
Llamas: They need to be tied up or in a chute.

Please keep in mind that shearing is not our full time profession. We are only able to shear in between our usual responsibilities. Our goal is aimed at the health of the animal first.
We will do our best to give you a good fleece for processing.
We can take care of toe nails while your alpaca is on the table.
If you have shots to administer, this would be a good time for you to get it done.

Prior to Shearing
- The less debris in the fleece the easier it is on the blades. Please keep your animal in a clean area.
- If it rains prior to shearing or you have let your alpaca play in water we will have to postpone until they are dry.
- Please have a relatively flat area for us to set up in.
- Please have animals collected and contained. We will not chase. We will charge you the travel fee and discuss rescheduling or refer you to another shearer.
- Please have an electrical outlet available or if your animals are in a remote area we can bring a generator for the cost of fuel.
- If shade is not available please let us know so we can bring shade.
- If you have medication/vaccinations to administer, or dental needs to care for. this would be the time to get it done. I can assist an owner but cannot legally preform any procedure.
